IBM Supports 2-1-1!

On October 15, 2008 representatives from 2-1-1’s across New York State as well as members of NYS AIRS and local United Ways convened in Albany, NY to participate in a meeting of 2-1-1 Policy Board members and key stakeholders At this meeting the IBM Corporation was honored for its corporate support of 2-1-1 in New York State The award was presented by Susan Hager, President of the United Way of New York State, on behalf of the 2-1-1 New York Collaborative to Reg Foster, IBM Regional Manager for Corporate Citizenship, to recognize IBM’s generous and continual support of regional 2-1-1 initiatives in New York State.

IBM has been a leading corporate sponsor and strong supporter of regional 2-1-1 operations across the state. Over the past four years IBM has made grants of servers, computers and cash to 2-1-1 operations in Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, Binghamton, Hudson Valley, Westchester and Long Island totaling over $125,000 in market value. Some of the grants have been part of IBM's support to local United Ways in the targeted communities.

IBM has also provided a grant and consultants at the national level, in partnership with United Way of America, to help design a pilot program through 2-1-1 to pre-register vulnerable clients for services in the event of disasters. The grant is also assisting the national 2-1-1 network to identify challenges to the expansion of the national network and to increase efficiency of operations. IBM through their generous support is helping 2-1-1 build stronger comm, unities throughout New York State and across the country by connecting people with the resources they need when they need them. 2-1-1 keeps you connected.

“IBM clearly sees the value of 2-1-1 and has proven itself a true partner- a great corporate citizen. The technical support provided is a key ingredient to the success of 2-1-1 in New York State”
- Rebecca S. Zohn, 2-1-1 Director of Northeastern New York

“IBM’s vision for implementing a tool that will help create a seamless operation during a disaster is a win / win for everyone…the public we’re serving, the Offices of Emergency Management and 2-1-1’s across the state.”
-Claire Satenberg Director of Training & Process Management , 2-1-1 Hudson Valley Region

“From the beginning IBM understood what 2-1-1 was all about and with us explored ways in which they could help make 2-1-1 happen in Western New York. They took a real interest in how they could help us help others.”
-Doug Frank, Executive Director 2-1-1 WNY/Central Referral Service, Inc.

"Thanks to IBM, we have been able to update our antiquated computers and purchase the software we needed to prepare for service expansion.  We appreciate their continued corporate partnership, community involvement and commitment to 2-1-1, not only in the Susquehanna River Region, but also in New York State and nationwide."
- Candace Gregory, Director of First Call For Help/2-1-1 Susquehanna River Region
